FOR SALE : 1966 Corvair Monza Convertible, 30 year barn find
Posted by: Greasemonkey512 ()
Date: June 06, 2018 09:24AM

I am in the process of relocating this 66 Corvair and was just looking for some input or interest in the car.

Would like to sell as is or with minimal engine work just to get it running.

More info to come. Pics are attached

Wow,

Big assumption here that if the rockers, floors and trunk are rust free that would still require new interior and obviously a top.

Hope the engine still turns over.

Shame it was stored that way. Hoping it lives again.

Thanks,

Mike

I am not in the market at this time but some will ask where are you, how much, what model, what engine, etc. etc.

I do have a full set of 14 inch keystones that i will sell.

I'm located in south East Virginia.

I am picking up the car tomorrow morning and will give more information then. From what i saw the car is more surface rust than anything. The floors and trunk are solid as well as the underside of the car.

Will post more pics and info once the car is gone through and cleaned up.

It will be interesting to see how it cleans up, it could very well be a solid chassis worth restoring.

The Corvair made it out of the barn, i had to remove all 4 drum brake shoes in order for it to roll. First time in the sun for 32 years!

You've got way more gumption that I do. If I saw that car, I'd run as fast as possible away from it. It isn't a car that is in good enough shape to keep as is, and it would definitely cost a fortune to restore, farm more that it will ever be worth. I have to give you credit to even consider taking this thing home. I wish you the best of luck with the project. You've got more balls than I do.

Do not spend much trying to get it running as even this little bit might not be recoverable on re-sale. I would be surprised if you could get a grand for this car in its current state.

surely having 4 carbs mounted must be somewhat unique?? The guy I got it from said they were something aftermarket but couldn't remember any details.

I have not had anytime to clean up the car yet.

From what I have seen, the car is solid; floors, rockers, inside wheel wells, doors shut easily and smoothly, all windows roll down easily, top even moves freely... I have not been able to get into the trunk yet, I guess I will need to remove the headlights to open it as the key will not turn the lock.

If I had more disposable time I'd love to make it a V8 project.
