After Market Steering Wheel Question
Posted by: SoloCP ()

I bought a Grant Wheel at our yearly Corvair Benefit Auction, The wheel had been previously installed on a Corvair so I know it wheel fit with the proper adapter.
My question though is I want to install this on my Corsa Race Car which has a Telescoping Wheel, I am not worry if installing the wheel disables the Telescoping as long as it does not ruin the column. I was thinking about removing the Wood Wheel and remove the Grant Wheel from its spacer and installing the wheel just as the wood wheel is attached which would leave the telescoping section intact. If this is not possible what is the best way to mount the steering wheel. The only reason I am changing is the wood wheel flexes during hard corning. Pics attached of what I have

What you're proposing should work but the Grant wheel is 5-bolt and the GM wheel is 6-bolt. You'll have to look at the parts and figure out whether the hub or the wheel gets modified. I suspect it's going to be the wheel.
