steering stabilizers

I am interested in updating steering with a steering stabilizer. Anyone have ideas on what a good after market brand and costs would be?

Welcome to the CCF!

Totally unneeded! unless you have highly positive offset wheels... Finch sold them in the 60's when it was a popular add-on to VW's which had NEGATIVE Caster!

We use POSITIVE Caster

welcome to CCF. Curious as to reason for steering shock.

Give some details about your car too. Suspension (mods)/
wheel and tire choice/year and model of your Corvair.

best wishes, Steve

Yes, some details about your setup would help.
Steering dampers not recommended. They can mask aligning torque feel and make limit driving and skid recovery more difficult.

Only steering dampers/stabilizers/shocks I have seen on Corvairs were masking worn parts. I replaced the parts and removed the dampers. What an improvement the owners said!

VWs and old Porsches used steering dampers to soften the effects of their precise worm and pinion steering gearboxes and the aforementioned caster issues. While I have also met some rack and pinion boxes that could use one, recirc. ball units have a built-in damping effect that renders their use rather superfluous.

Keep 'em flying...
