Body Dolly

Looking for ideas on building a dolly to sit the 63 convertible body on. More then likely out of wood. This will be used to move the body around and use to sell the body to facilitate transportation. Pics ?

You can laugh but I used a set of wood bed rails and 2 x 6 . casters from Harbor Freight. The bed rails had 1 x 2 that the cross braces originally set on . I measured the width across the pinch weld below the rockers , set the rails on the floor, set them to the width + a inch so the 1 x 2 was out side the pinch rail , cut the 2 x 6 to length and bolted together with 2 straight / 2 swivel casters. The bigger the casters the easier it will move, I used hard plastic type. Worked perfect for transporting my corvair with no suspension about 400 miles.

Here is the one I used on mine 2x8, 1/2 plywood squares across the corners and lag screwed the 4" casters into the frame. Used it for a bunch of stuff besides just the car.

I know a few Corvette guys that built this and liked it. Probably would work for a Corvair:

I bought one that Bob Slusher made. It's four pieces of Unistrut with corner plates of flat steel to attach the HF casters. Then simple bolts to go up into the jacking point holes. I used it to take the car via trailer to media blast and back. The body is in primer and on it now. Easy to push around to make room where needed in the garage. Bob may chime in on exact specifications. I can take pictures if needed.
