Distributors for 110 Engine?

Looking to buy a serviceable 1110311 distributor for this 110 engine I am reviving. I will be mating it to a Powerglide. Currently it has a 110319 distributor made for manual transmissions.

If I can't locate one by the time I have determined this engine is serviceable and ready for installation, I will be calling Seth. I know I should call him first but cost on 3 vehicles are racking up. (Monza Coupe, Greenbrier Van, Cammaro SS)

For what it's worth, the 110hp "319" distributor was used for both automatic and manual 110hp engines. The 311 was for a 95hp PG.

The 311 advances a little sooner and with 4-degrees more advance, if that's what you're looking to change.

I was looking through the Tech Guide and it shows the 311 as the one for the 110 & 95 hours engine. What to believe is the question? Which one will give better performance is what I need.

Al an 1110319 will be so close that while running on your
bench it won't matter. If you decide to use the engine
then you do some fine tuning with different ign curves.

View the distributor differences in the same manner as
carb jetting. After you install the engine in something
you 'may' have to re-jet the carbs too.

The 95 HP in my Manual Rampy has a PG distributor.
The 95Hp PG in my 66 AUtocrosser has a Manual Distributor.

No noted ill effects.

That's the info I am looking for. Experienced knowledgeable Vair people input and real world experience.

The engine has a 319 and I have 3 good spares. So I believe I am good now.

In my analysis, a 311 distributor with it's faster advance curve and 4-degrees more advance is more likely to cause spark knock (ping) in an engine that's already "ping prone" even with a 319 distributor.

As to "who to believe" between the factory service manual and the tech guide, I'd go with the factory information. JMHO

319 on 110 PG is normal and works great. I have had 3 cars with this setup and driven them all daily. 2 of these cars had upgraded camshafts and overbores as well. The 319 is the ticket for a 110 PG IMO.

Plots of both mechanical advance curves using Bob Helt's distributor specs. I have also seen the spec sheets showing 24* advance for the 0311 but defer to Mr Helt.
