Idle changing

I have 1965 Monza 110hp power glide. I rebuilt carbs about 1000 miles ago I have a daily driver ran great after rebuild. The idle is changing daily after car is at operating temperature. I have replaced vacuum hoses spacers under carbs and power glide module appears to be ok. I have had this Corvair for 3 years never a problem what am I missing?

Welcome to the CCF!!

Idle mixtures may be too lean... or Plugs may be carboning up

How did you "Balance airflow" thru the carbs? What tools did you use?

Connect a dwell meter and a timing light.

In what way does the idle change? speed? smoothness? Common causes are loose levers on carb shafts, worn linkage not keeping carb levers against the idle stop screws, timing drift due to worn distributor parts, fast idle cam hanging up, etc.

And setting the idle real close in rpm to where the vacuum advance on the distributor will pull in. If this is it, try lowering the idle speed by 25 or 50 rpm. Usually on Powerglide cars it shows because the Neutral idle will pull in the vacuum advance before you shift to Drive.

Not to insult but did you Unisyn with the vacuum advance plugged? my engine drifted a lot until I sorted the linkage. Lots of places it can get loose. Work parts and things hanging onto the linkage. Plug wires, vacuum hoses etc.

Visually check the harmonic balancer.
