Eddie, you could check with Maxxis to see if they have any local shops in your area that sell them.

Ordering online works pretty well. Prices around 100-120 per tire last I looked.

Looked around for charts, anyone know the diameter or actual revs per miles of this brand.

Thank You Seth, its a great resource and I have saved it along with some others. I am currently running 205 70R 13 in my Corsa and have for a long time. GM used these on several cars and they were not that hard to find for a long time. Nice and wide, good clearance, Perfect REVs per mile for the LM speedo. The last set I got I had sent down from Canadian Tire. They produced and supplied them long after I could get them in the USA. They still look and handle great, but are getting ready to be date coded out.

The reason I asked about the Maxxis brand is because of my experience with other Chinese and Taiwanese tires is that the size is just some crude guide line for them.

It is all but impossible to get any trailer tires that are made in the USA any more. The last couple I got for my boat trailer and tow dolly have been all over the place regardless of what is printed on the sidewall. I can see the difference without any type of measuring device. one set of dooly tires were a good in shorter, let alone diameter. I got a set for my wife's scooter the were easily 20% smaller with the same numbers on the sidewall.

Can I get decent 205 70 13 anymore, yep but they are pricey. One tire = a set of maxxis.

[www.cokertire.com] and they are only blackwall

The most frustrating part about attempting to find acceptable tires for your needs is mostly due to the way the websites are set up.

Unless you happen to be a moron who wants only the exact size tire that came on your vehicle that is likely less than ten model years old, it seems virtually impossible to navigate the site to find what you want.

It would be nice if the tire manufacturers would incorporate a feature where an individual with an actual brain could search for available sizes within a specific wheel size range. In our case, the ability to search out all available 13 inch sizes offered by them would make finding an acceptable size quite a bit easier.

Unfortunately it seems that the morons and twits with no actual automotive intelligence or competence at all, are the ones making the decisions.

The other option is to play the brick and mortar roulette game where one chooses a random local "tire store" and pray's that the "Expert" that waits on you might actually be qualified to assist you meet your needs, instead of being someone simply willing to work for the wage offered and has no actual idea what they are doing, or interest in actually helping find the tire you want. I believe Maxxis is the only one making 185/80/R13 whitewall tires, except maybe Coker. I don't know about blackwalls. Be careful you don't get trailer tires.

It's cheaper to buy them online and my local tire shop doesn't mind mounting carry in tires.

Anything less than 175 looks puny on a Corvair in my opinion and I'm not really a wide tire guy.

I believe Maxxis making the 185 tires is a direct result of being approached at SEMA by Corvair people and I hope it's working out well for them.

A slightly more expensive option is the Vredestein Sprint Classic, available in 7.00R13 mostly for vintage Mercedes. I have a set on our 1967 500 Sport Sedan and have been impressed with how well they ride and perform--better than I would have thought for autocross.

Scroll to the bottom of this listing:

Blackwall only from Vredestein but Diamondback applies various width whitewalls.

Check on the black side serial number. The last 3 digits are the week and year of manufacture. Don't be caught buying tires older than 8 years as they should be scrapped for sidewall weather-checking. I was a tire guy. Am replacing Firestone FR380 tires that are 8 years old and look perfect. Great if you do not plan to drive your vair. I just assumed your car is a driver.

Anything over 5 years is questionable in my experience. I've had low mileage 5 year old tires blow out sitting still from rot. A couple on my Fiero and several on my truck. 3 Cooper Cobras on my truck blew out on the highway when they still looked new with no cracking. My mom has one Buick with 10 year old tires that are fine and her other one is on the third set of the same brand and model that fell apart. The first 2 sets were the same. The third are Yokohama. Hopefully they will do better.
