I don't think its trolling when a large number of people have the same experience with the same vendor, myself included.

Respectfully:

I’m not a troll. I post from time to time with questions about building my Corvair.

I also didn’t bash Lon or CU, I simply stated my history of the transaction and hoped I could get my money back.

Lets be real, If a vendor has a long running habit of not filling orders or giving refunds in a timely manor, and this has been going on for decades, its the responsibility of the corvair community to let others know, Nobody wants to get ripped off or wait a year for their parts, or recieve broken or partial orders, when working on your car you want to pay the bill and get the parts in a timely manor, that is how business is done, Lon is a very nice guy and have met him a few times, and that's great, but Business is Business and a business owner has responsibilities to their customers, especially after being paid! at least communicate if there is a problem filling an order and give a refund if asked in a timely manor, if the business cannot do this and has a track record of not doing this, then its the responsibility of the Corvair community to get the word out to help other Corvairs guys make a informed decision on where to spend their money, I have seen complaints about Clarks and CA Vairs also, but very seldom and that is to be expected from any business, I have gotten a bad Hamburger from McDonalds before also, But this seems to be a long running well know'n to most of us problem with Underground, and it only makes sense to let others know to help the community as a whole, and Lon, if you are reading this, Thanks for all your years of Service, but step up your Game if you are going to take people's money! at least Communicate! smoking smiley

Never had a single problem with Lon over many years. Unfortunately I can't say the same for my Corvair USB thumb drive. Actually I had given up an forgotten about it until all this started.

BbakerGA said it best - thank you.

I'm really disappointment in you John Sweet - I know you're a "competitor" but we've know each other for a long time and I thought we were friends - "criminal acts"? Take a pill.

As for some of the other usual suspects I'd mention you by name but why? Anytime there is a complaint brought against me you're johnny on the spot to chime in. Some of you have never even done business with me but you think you know it all.

Thanks for trying to keep things even Matt - but it's hopeless. I'm the vendor that these trolls like to attack and we all know how the internet works.

I am having a very difficult time getting all the orders out from my sale. So far nearly everyone who hasn't gotten delivery have been patient. I am one person doing my best.

At some point when I finally do close down it will a great relief to me - Until then I have a lot of Corvair stuff to sell - What should I do? Lock the doors and let the landlord throw it all in the dump? Closing down is not as easy as some of the wags around here think.

I'll also mention that no less than 4 Corvair folks have said they would buy out the remainder of my operation. This is in the past 2 months. Not a one have contacted me further. We could literally see the whole operation get scrapped.

Until then I'll come in every day and work my best to get everyone's orders out. I've been doing it for 44 years.

Most of you guys spend way more cash on the hobby than I, I have bought parts from CU and have never had a problem, there's even a penguin on my windowsill.
I wish you well Lon, I wish I had a solution but I'm too far away from you and retirement to be able to help.

Hard to believe isn't it. Any critique is now bashing. Any remarks that are not positive about a vender are disallowed on this forum.

We have a problem here folks. Perhaps rule 6 is "don't criticize the rules".

I sell a product on the internet and I won’t take a client’s money unless the product is in my shop ready to ship. Any other policy will be nothing but trouble.

Would everyone please try to relax and de-stress a bit.
Look, No body has been shut-down here yet, and you have not been censored either.
Matt has allowed this thread to continue, he just said "NO Bashing" !
I would interpret that to saying, . . . "Keep it civil, and stick to the provable facts"!

I personally feel that there needs to be some better definition of "RULE #2" ! ! !
It is not really clear about just where the exact point is where the moderators define the line between "discussing" a vendors poor practices, and "Bashing" a vendor.
There is a real issue here!
There are some so called vendors out there that the Corvair community needs to be aware of.
But at the same time,
There is the possibility of using the unlimited power of the internet to destroy a persons business, and their personal reputation, quite easily even though they did nothing wrong!
One dis-satisfied customer out of ten thousand, can get on here and start a firestorm of hatred and discontent, without having any personal repercussions to themselves.
Who is going to moderate that kind of vitriol?
Who is going to do the fact checking?
Who is going to repair destroyed businesses?
I am not defending any business right now, and not saying that no one on here has no right to be upset, but just trying to point out some of the reasoning for "RULE #2.

One last thing before I go, and let you all flame me.
REMEMBER THIS,
CCF is a open and FREE forum!
NO ONE has paid for a membership here!
NO ONE is required to be here!
NO ONE that has ever joined CCF should stick around if they feel that CCF is not a benefit to them personally!

If the worst thing I can find to say about CCF is that I am not allowed to "Bash" a member or a vendor, then I think that I belong to a truly incredible group here ! ! !

Maybe those who want to "Out bad vendors" should create a web-site, or FB page specifically for the purpose of protecting the Corvair hobby?

Thank-you for your time, I am out of this one. hot smiley

Not hard to believe!! It's the RULE! There are other Forums to use... it's a FREE Web!

As per Rule #2

Why is it so hard to PM people? A quick search will find others in the same circumstance!

IF I had a problem with a vendor OR a MEMBER...

I'd start a new Topic...

Anyone having trouble with XXXXXXXXX PM ME!

I'll CLOSE it so people have to!

You hit the nail square on the head right there!
First amendment does not apply here!
CCF is privately owned and have GRANTED us the PRIVILEGE to use it!
They have the RIGHT to make up any rules that they want!
If anyone here does not like those rules, they are free to leave!
Do I always like the rules?
NO!
There have been times that I have broken uh bent them, and Matt has had to send me a PM to say that I need to straighten-up.
Do I like to get those little reprimands?
NO!
But, I understand that if I want to take advantage of the wonderful opportunity to belong to this incredible group, then I need to follow the rules!
If you desire an "Anarchy Corvair Forum" then by all means, go start one!

I know that I said that I was out of this one, but come on guys, USE YOUR HEADS!

I can fully understand what Matt has to deal with. I use to own a campground and it would always amaze me how many people would think that they didn't have to follow my rules (which were placed there to allow ALL visitors to enjoy themselves) because they thought "it's my rights to free speech" and I would always tell them it's my right to kick you off of my property! It was usually the lower class people that already got the cheapest rate but always wanted everything handed to them. Any way thank you Matt for taking the time to moderate this forum.
