You do not remove the A-arms to replace the heater hoses. It is a reach!

On early models, you need to transfer the rubber sleeve from the old hose to the new one and position it against the starter terminal. If the foam rubber sleeve is already missing, use something insulative to keep the wire in the heater hose from contacting the starter terminal. This is a known fire hazard!

The hardest part is getting the old clamp and hose removed from the left one over the differential.

I use a smear of Syl Glyde grease inside the new one so a guy has a chance of getting it off next time.

I'LL second that note - Unless you are Plastic-Man and can stretch your arms up to reach around the heater box. Ugh.

Cut there and you'll cut more than a hatch!

I keep short pieces of various 4" hose around. Sometimes you can "screw them together" in a splice and tape it. It might be a valid use for duct tape. A lot of times only the end is bad. Certainly not ideal but...

Regarding the connection over the differential (the only hard one):

I've had good results removing the upper one by pulling out the hose's reinforcing wire all the way. Once the wire is out from under the clamp, the hose clamp and whatever fabric remains is easy to remove.

Are you using new hose? What type? Original neoprene-impregnated fabric with the wire or the rubber with plastic "spring"? The place where the hose slides on needs to be clean. I've had some decent luck using ArmorAll to "grease" the hose to help it slide on easier. It was hard to reach, but not impossible.

I got the hose from clarks
C4255 2 OK HOSE-HEATER-PVC FLEX STYLE (2 NEED

- weird thing too- i need to get the little flange that connects the duct under engine to the hose - not sure why someone removed this part- but i just got a hole there- i think this little thing might be easy to make --
guy who had it before me must have dropped then engine and never put that hose back on - he also ran much of the electrical to engine though driver side rear duct - so will have to re-thread-
As per photo- i have some time to figure this all out

It's tough to spend $30 for a hose and not use it in it's entirety.

4" non-ventilated corrugated drainage tile cut to length and set out in the hot sun. Sell your Clark's hose at a swap meet. Just my humble opinion. Your mileage may vairy.

Rubber wrapped around stif wire. That one should slide on reasonably easily if armoralled and the mounting piece is clean. As stated earlier, you want the insulating collar where it passes over the starter.

I looked for a supplier for 4" hose. One of the considerations was temperature. I would think Clarks considered that criteria as well. The only thing worse than doing a tough job is having to do it over.
