() Date: March 06, 2020 12:34AM Well, we are off the rotisserie temporarily to fit the doors and do bodywork on the ends of the car. Passenger door fit pretty goodish without any work, ill have to have Craig inspect the gaps for final approval. All dents are pulled from the lower front panel and I started on bodywork there tonight Cody Hurley North Idaho (Post Falls) 66 Monza convertible 140/PG, loaded with factory options 66 Corsa turbo coupe, 3rd owner fully documented [corvaircenter.com] 65 Monza coupe daily driver 110/4 Also 2 Ford f350 IDI diesels, six Jeep FC 170s, 1966 Jeep CJ5A, 03 neon, 5 Rokon Trailbreakers, Honda xr350s, and thousands of parts ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Attachments: ![]() Re: Build Thread: '66 Sprint Convertible Posted by:

() Date: March 06, 2020 08:19PM This is so cool, my favorite thread. I love the updates and pictures. Wish I could find my first car. The year was 1977 and it was a 66 Monza convertible. I'm sure it is long gone but I sure did love that car. Living in the Detroit area it had rust holes in the floorboards in the late 1970's Cody you are the man! What a talented young guy. () Date: March 06, 2020 10:13PM Since Cody is moving steadily, I figured I had better get going on the suspension! Today, I had a few hours to start dismantling the front crossmember. Here's what I found: 1) Metallic brake shoes are still there after all these years. That's cool. 2) I'll be sending the shocks to Koni for a rebuild. Rebuilt is about the same cost as new but I'd rather have the original pieces. 3) The Sprint/Aeon rubber spring is wiped out but I have replacements in hand. Note the upper bumper is different too. In this picture, also note the blue-painted Sprint quick steering arms. Springs are original F41/HDS It's just so amazing all this stuff is still here, even if it's mostly worn out. While the sway-bar busings and Aeon spring bushings are toast, tie-rod ends, ball joints, and A-arm bushings are in surprisingly good conditon. Craig N. Always liked the black, but mine was in such good shape I didn't mess with it. I don't remember if you said, but did you do the black paint, or was it like that when you bought it? I wonder how many Red Corsa Convertibles were between my SDC and your XRD? Seems I posted that question already, but don't see it. Maybe I'm projecting but not posting? ![]() ![]() Paul Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
