() Date: December 17, 2022 12:21AM I have been lately trying to keep the shop clean, focusing on rebuilding another customer's 110 for a 65 convertible, trying to get it done and gone. I finally test ran it a couple days ago and got it back in last night, so now I can make dust again!!! Tonight I final adjusted the doors to verify fit and began block sanding. For first prime it is coming out pretty darn good! Some areas need a little attention, but I was anticipating a bit worse for first prime. I have a big shop rearrangement planned to get this thing out of the back corner but decided I would be better off giving it some attention first Cody Hurley North Idaho (Post Falls) 66 Monza convertible 140/PG, loaded with factory options 66 Corsa turbo coupe, 3rd owner fully documented [corvaircenter.com] 66 Canadian monza coupe 110/pg project car (no picture yet) 65 Monza coupe daily driver 110/4 Also 2 Ford f350 IDI diesels, three Jeep FC 170s, 1966 Jeep CJ5A, two 1954 International R-150 pickups, 5 Rokon Trailbreakers, Chrysler Snorunner, and thousands of parts ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Attachments: ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Build Thread: '66 Sprint Convertible Posted by:

() Date: December 18, 2022 11:49PM Thanks as always guys! I am getting more excited as well! I got in a few more hours yesterday, blocked out a good portion of the back half amd began spot repairs up front. I need to hurry up and find a 4 door before I end up tearing turboturd down for a facelift! Ha! It is nice to be on to the next step! Now just several weeks of watching primer spots move around! () Date: January 05, 2023 08:35PM Well progress has been good lately! I had to bend the passenger door slightly and weld just a little on the gap to make it 100%. As of now, both quarters, both doors, deck lid, both cowls and most of the back panel are ready for second prime. I still need to finish up the back panel, finish the nose panel, block/bodywork the rockers and tackle the trunk lid. () Date: February 12, 2023 10:22PM Well after tons of detail work I got the back 2/3 into second prime today. The front clip is very close but I also wanted to get the majority of the car sealed up. Pics of epoxy spot priming and after a couple more coats of sandable primer! () Date: February 26, 2023 08:40PM Thanks everyone! I enjoy this part as I get to see the results of all the work begin to take form. I have really enjoyed correcting all of the gaps and panel joints. Having it all together and uniform color is pretty rewarding! Last night was final prep and masking up trunk, doorjambs, trunk jamb, wheelwells and underside. Today was primer on the fuel door, grills and front clip. Now to let it sit a couple weeks to fully cure and then more block sanding... () Date: February 28, 2023 12:50AM That is great attention to detail Cody. There a those that might point and exclaim “over-restoring”! But I disagree. If what you are doing is minimizing the (HUGE) production variation that was typical of domestic cars of the 60s and beyond, I call that optimization. The same can be said about “blueprinting” an engine when rebuilding. Make it beautiful the way the designers intended. Nice work! ![]() Re: Build Thread: '66 Sprint Convertible Posted by:

() Date: March 24, 2023 06:52PM Thanks! Over-restorstion has become kind of a sore subject with myself and the crew I work with, it really honestly seems to be a cheap excuse to give awards to judges buddy's lesser nice cars, the nicest one can be considered "over restored" and so-and-so's is not...so he gets the award. Lately I have been working on years overdue shop cleanup while the primer cures! The last two nights brought cutting the rust from the back of the drivers rocker, blowing allll the debris from the rocker, fabricating and welding in new metal. Metal replacement is finally at an end! () Date: April 28, 2023 11:16PM Block sanding has been slow but I am still moving along! I blocked about 80% of the car and corrected a couple small fit issues. Got the passenger quarter, rocker and door, deck lid and drivers door primed a few days back. I have tje drivers quarter and rocker, all three grills and the sides of the fromt femders prepped and ready for primer.
