When done this car will have shut lines that rival modern cars or better!

It has been far too long since my last post, but shrinking down the warpage from sand blasting the deck lid has taken forever! But I am making progress as patience allows.

I also stripped most of the quarter and located and drilled mounting holes for the quarter C. In the process I learned the C emblems were in different positions on both sides. I double checked my measurements, marked and drilled one and noticed the misalignment and checked twice more to verify. Picture is of inner left quarter brace, original hole and drill bit poking through in the right spot. Before paint I now need to be sure the corsa fender scripts are symmetrical too.

This car has not had a left rear C emblem since prior to Craig's first ownership until now! Whoever poorly hung the last quarter also did not bother to reinstall the emblem either.

I also built up the back lower 6" of the door edge for best gap, did a very small cut and weld at the top of the quarter and twisted and re worked the back edge of the door for best fit. The work created another oil can I had to shrink out, but the end result was worth the effort

Great work Cody, the car will be far above what GM sent out the door in 1966.

Thanks as always guys!

I am very very close to ready for primer on the final 3 panels! Took longer than planned but it needs to be right. Last week I bagged the car and blasted all the weld areas on the quarter. The weeks before that I finished bodywork on the deck lid and quarter panel. Today's final task was finalizing the metalwork on the very drivers side of the cove area. Decided to test fit the taillights just to be safe...and of course they both faced different directions. Out came the corvair taillight tool I made to fix the back panel of my convertible, but with nothing to anchor to I had to hammer from the back side this time. I have a couple spots to re-sand blast, a skim coat of filler for the outside of the tail panel and from there we should see primer soon!

Tonight we got primer! The underside of the deck lid still needs bodywork, along with the rear window grill but I was anxious to get all the bare metal sealed up, so next on tbe agenda will be those two, and at that, the entire "first prime" will be done!

Saturday I finalized fit bodywork on the upper grill, yesterday I removed the deck lid, sand blasted and bodyworked the repaired areas on the inside. Tonight brought primer. As of now the entire car is officially in first prime!
