Maybe ill be able to buzz up the pinholes. Not even close to nearly as bad as the passenger side, but still needs attention.

Good, long productive evening today. Worked the area ahead of the wheel into shape and started fill and blocking.

Rust in lower passenger windshield panel is almost taken care of. 2 small spots with porosity to grind out and fix, test fit the trim and then fix the drivers side next!

Computer isnt cooperating, but here are doors, deck lid, frunk and grills sand blasted and primed! Next step will be to take it off the rotisserie and fit everything, bodywork the ends of the car and back onto the rotisserie

The epoxy primer is PPG DP74LF. Imagine my shock when I picked it up at the PPG store and it was $500 for a gallon with hardener!. That's nuts!

Yup, Sanman1st is doing a '60 El Camino

Over $800 in primer / prep supplies...

And 1 gal of an orange.... is over $800!

I reminded him the other day.... 70% of that primer went on the floor!!

It is straight!

Jason, I am a huge fan of the brand Finex. My spray guns were around $140 each and very very good quality for the money

Well, we are off the rotisserie temporarily to fit the doors and do bodywork on the ends of the car. Passenger door fit pretty goodish without any work, ill have to have Craig inspect the gaps for final approval. All dents are pulled from the lower front panel and I started on bodywork there tonight

This is so cool, my favorite
thread. I love the updates
and pictures.
Wish I could find my first
car. The year was 1977 and it was
a 66 Monza convertible. I'm sure
it is long gone but I sure did
love that car. Living in the
Detroit area it had rust holes
in the floorboards in the late
1970's

Cody you are the man!

Since Cody is moving steadily, I figured I had better get going on the suspension!

Today, I had a few hours to start dismantling the front crossmember. Here's what I found:

1) Metallic brake shoes are still there after all these years. That's cool.

2) I'll be sending the shocks to Koni for a rebuild. Rebuilt is about the same cost as new but I'd rather have the original pieces.

3) The Sprint/Aeon rubber spring is wiped out but I have replacements in hand. Note the upper bumper is different too. In this picture, also note the blue-painted Sprint quick steering arms. Springs are original F41/HDS

It's just so amazing all this stuff is still here, even if it's mostly worn out. While the sway-bar busings and Aeon spring bushings are toast, tie-rod ends, ball joints, and A-arm bushings are in surprisingly good conditon.

Me too!
I left my cove silver though. Always liked the black, but mine was in such good shape I didn't mess with it. I don't remember if you said, but did you do the black paint, or was it like that when you bought it?

I wonder how many Red Corsa Convertibles were between my SDC and your XRD?
Seems I posted that question already, but don't see it. Maybe I'm projecting but not posting?smoking smileyspinning smiley sticking its tongue out
