Gas pedal adjustment is under the car at the trans pivot.

Fast way. Disconnect rod from throttle cross shaft in engine compartment. Make sure cross shaft can be moved to full throttle position.

Block gas pedal to floor. Adjust throttle rod until it can be inserted into cross shaft connection. Shorten it by one turn and connect.

It should get you going. You should hit carb stops before you hit the floor with the pedal.

doesn't seem to be any "early "body service manual" must be in the shop manual.

there is a couple of inches of play in the throttle linkage with the pedal against the floor. Time to start replacing bushings, especially the rubber ones.

That really bugs me I cant find it in the manual. i found it once before but cant remember where..angry smiley.lol

For EM cars the adjustment procedure is in the Factory Assembly Manual. It is not well covered in the factory service manuals.

I replaced the pedal today; assembled it to the pedal rod. I set it at 1.70 inches, like the shop manual specifies. Upon further reading of the shop manual, I see a page that details how to adjust the accelerator control linkage. In that paragraph, it mentions to turn the rear idler swivel to wide open throttle, and that the pedal should be 2 inches from the floor at this point, then attach the rear swivel etc.

Might want to check the bracket that holds the pedal to the floorboard. It sometimes breaks.

Does not seen to be as many plastic bushings in the tunnel as a LM.

Check the pivot in the tunnel, also.

FYI

The ONLY way to test WOT is for one person to press the accelerator pedal to the floor and one person to check the position of the butterflies in the carbs.

Always felt that there is enough "play" / "stretch" in even a newly bushed linkage to achieve WOT just rotating the cross shaft.

Over the years, I have seen many accelerator pedals not far enough off the carpet to achieve WOT.

I got hnder the car last nighg and rrmived the cover over the rear pivot. Everything was covered in wheel bearing grease. The rubber bushings soaked up the greas and deteriorated them. Also, fhe pivot bolt was loose. I tightened the pivot bolt and still have play dhe to the xesign of the floor board. Im going to make a brace to stop the back and forth movement. I requires drilling and tapping a hole in the center of the pivot bolt. Ill post pics when i get the brace built and installed. New bhsbings coming from Clarks
