gas pocket drain hose

I'm sure I've seen a picture of this part but don't remember ever seeing one actually on a car. I think it drained any gas that overflowed into this area down a rubber hose located next to the fender and onto the ground. Just curious about it's existence. EddieB Dade City,Fl

My 61 Lakewood and 64 Coupe both have one. Fastens with a couple clips to the rear of the fender well pinch weld.

Eddie it allows water to drain from the pocket too; either from washing the car or rain

They clog very easily, and the fastest way to clear them is to blow air from the bottom of the rubber tube to dislodge the debris. Then blow out the gas pocket with air to remove any other debris. When new, they work great, but after a year or so, they clog and the gas pocket will fill up with water.

Which is probably why most of the Corvairs I have owned had one or more small rectangular holes in the bottom of the fuel pocket where somebody drove a screwdriver through the metal. sad smiley
