Power Glide question

Anyone ever had any experience with a Corvair automatic not always shifting into low when the speed drops or you stop.

Working on a members car, and it seems every so often when stopping, it will not pull away again, lugs very badly.
If I shift the lever between neutral and reverse, it seems to fix it and then it drives away fine.

Any suggestions???

Experience working on this? . . . . No.
Experience with something like this happening? . . YES.
Sometimes my PG does not downshift as you have stated.
BUT, it will pull away okay.
It just does so more slowly.
Does not seem to be "Lugging" badly, just takes longer to get up to cruising speed.
When I have come to a stop, and realize that it did not downshift, all I have to do is just drop it into "Low" manually and then right back to "Drive", and she takes off fine from there.
If you are paying attention to the car, you can feel it is still in "High" gear from the way it is idling, once I do the "Low"-"Drive" shift, she levels right out.
I will be very interested in this thread.

Try a new modulator. If that doesn't work change the governor.

Happened to me...pulled the governor out and the plastic gear at the end was in bad shape. New governor, problem solved.
