LM wheel bearing assembly stuck

Sorry if this was brought up before...

I've seen a couple videos of people removing the rear bearing assembly and it just sorta comes out once all the bolts are removed. Mine will not budge at all.

The 4 bolts in front are removed, the half-shaft is disconnected, brake and e-brake lines removed. Nothing should be holding it to the car. Is there something I am missing? It does not 'wiggle' in the slightest, like there is another bolt holding it on. I don't really want to go to town on it with a hammer. Don't want to risk damaging anything.

Could it just be that rusted on?

This is for a 66 Corsa that has decided to have everything go wrong over the last year and enjoys fighting me over every single possible thing. (anyone who does engine rebuilding in NE Ohio I'd like to talk to you).

What bolts are you talking about? The bearing assembly is secured with 4 nuts on studs that are pressed into the torque arm. Once those nuts are removed it should come out and if it wont then tap on it with a hammer.

You know the backing plate comes off with the hub assembly, right? Just checking.
A few punces on a small chisel between the swing arm and the backing plate might help persuade it.

What Vairismo said! I have a couple old wood chisels I use to separate things that are stuck like this. The (formerly) sharp edge gets in there and wedges them apart. My rear bearings were difficult to remove the first time I did it as well. The chisel made quick work of removing them. Use it between the trailing arm and bearing. As said above the brake backing plate will come off with it.

Just got done beating on it for an hour hammering wedges between the arm and backing plate and nothing happens. It's really on there. Hosed it down in (more) PB blaster and will look at it later.

Would it be wise to hit the castle nut (or the shaft it goes on) pretty hard? That is in the center. Already 'tapped' on it quite a bit.

Apologies for this dumb problem.

DO NOT hit the threaded end of the spindle the exposed threads will be damaged.

Have you removed the four 9/16 head NUTS that hold the assembly to the torque arm?

Where are you located? Is there a local club near you? Maybe someone here can help if you give your location.

Again DO NOT beat on the end of the spindle.

EDIT I just see you are in NE Ohio. There are several clubs in Ohio. Maybe in your city or readers here in Ohio too.

best wishes, Steve

Maybe some pictures?
Someone here might even be able to see what the problem is.

If you have removed the 4 nuts and it still won't come out somebody welded the back plate to the trailing arm. Nothing else is possible.
