Why put it in that direction? They make a flipped differential drive for the gear case that would allow you to set it in with the engine in the engine bay. Very cool though!

They probably didn't forget it because that gear kit is $1900.

The guy had it running and driving in a 66 Coupe, for a couple years, at least. I talked to him a while back when he was trying to sell the whole car.
