Satin black was factory. At least the two EM top frames I took apart looked to be satin black so I went with that.

My frame is original paint and is satin (late model). Personal opinion is the satin look blends in nice with the black fabric of the inside top.

Mine is the same color as the window sills and something less than full gloss, but not flat.

Mine is original, and seems to be some degree of satin.
BUT, if you are not going for a concours car, I must say that the gloss like Mel has does look good!
Many verts at cruise-ins seem to have gloss, and I think they stand out as a nicer feature.

Satin black, most definitely. Make that thing blend with the inside of the top.

There are many interesting features on my Corvair worthy of visual highlighting. The top frame is not one of them...
