Oil bath part wanted

Talking to a guy that needs a crossover with the curved pipe on it for an oil bath system on a '64 A/C car. Same as FC according to Clark's. He isn't on any forums.

I guess Clark's catalog is incorrect. He says his goes forward and to the right. Is that something odd ball? I've never seen one that went forward.

I just did a quickie search on the site for "Van oil bath" and came up with this thread and photo. [corvaircenter.com]

Looking at the photo, it looks to go "forward and to the right" IF forward is actually to the back bumper.

Here is a cut and paste from one of the replies on that thread.

Lots of good parts wish I was close by.

One kinda rare piece I see: in the carb box is air cleaner part for FC between the small air cleaners and round extension to oil bath"

Now I'm really confused. The one in the above picture is pointing to the right rear. The only one I've paid any attention to in real life was one I took off of a '63 Greenbrier that was on the left and pointed to the left rear. He sent me a picture of a setup like his that does point forward and to the right. Since his is an A/C car would the one in the above picture even fit? I doubt it.

Here is another thread about F.C. Oil Bath set ups that I found on the same search, it is worth looking at the thread as it has several photo's.

Looking at this photo, it appears that if the tube was on the left side pointing forward (front of vehicle), there would be nowhere for the oil bath part to fit. JMO

The one in this photo is from a 65. Is that what he is looking for?

My guess that the item posted is more than likely from a 1965 Coupe, Convertible, or Sedan but likely not a F.C. but this is just a guess on my part.

The filthy photo is in the attached link. The center section shown is from another thread not referenced.

He's looking for a '64 w/A/C but I think it looks just like the '65 above pictured in Britt's post. Anyone have one for sale?

That piece can't work on early A/C car, the
compressor is in the place of the oil bath.

He claims the oil bath goes in the spare tire area.

My apologies for any confusion. I misunderstood the application and was thinking it was for a F.C. not an air conditioned car. (I have F.C.'s on the brain these days)

I can see GM placing the oil bath element in the spare tire area of a 1964 or 1965 factory air conditioned car because the spare won't fit with that condenser mounted on top of the engine.

Since the spare was mounted in the trunk, this would make use of the empty space.

All the FC and wagon oil bath air cleaners were pointed to the right rear. That one very odd looking set up Britt posted was for a 65 car with A/C and
with the optional oil bath. Good luck finding that setup. I have picked up a couple of those pieces but have only 1 complete set up (thanks to 1 of our Corsa Western Directors- I picked it up at the Toss a few years ago). I am wondering if the oil bath air cleaner was available for early models with A/C?

I have a bunch of oil bath air cleaners, so I will have to look. I believe that I have at least one of every one that was offered. Just like my collection of generator mounting brackets. When I was younger, I was obsessed with finding the oddities of Corvairs. It wasn't until much later, I realized that I had miss identified the oddities.

That photo was from my stored items. Tried to sell the entire system, but only got interest in splitting it up. I didn't want to do that to such unique parts.
