If you have a 1960 head the vacuum balance tube port would be much bigger than the 61-69 head.

I am not saying that Nelson. What people have done to our cars for a very long time is unmentionable. Can you show us a picture of the vacuum balance tube as well as the port where the tube rubber connector is.

Sorry Tim. What I meant to say was can it or can it not be done without any big modifications? I’ll post that pic

Only mode would be the Balance tube port size.. Adapter Compression union will work fine...

But if in a '61 or later VEHICLE.... you won't have the boss for the Head temp switch!

'60's monitored oil temp not head..

"Looks" like a '61 or 2 but means nothing..

Do you have a Temp sensor under the #1 cylinder? [ same wire as oil pressure switch ]

Then forget a 60 head... or move the sensor to #6

I see a 61 or later vacuum balance tube. I doubt someone would modify a 60 head for this fit but a good clear close up picture of where the hose connector fits should clear that up. I am going to stick with the suggestion that someone "polished off" the head part number you have been looking for. Why I do not know why someone would do that.

'60 and '61 heads also didn't have the choke thermostats for the carbs like '62 and up.

That head looked "as cast" to me.
I saw no indication that it was manipulated in any way.
Was it the correct end of the head?

Yes Mel. It’s the correct side. I even checked both sides of that same head and you are right about not seeing any indication of the heads being manipulated in any way or if it was, whoever did it, did a great job lol
