shift cable removed from powerglide wont shift to reverse

I removed the shift selector handle and cable from my 110 because it wouldn't shift into reverse. I can get the selector to shift fine without the cable but it won't shift to reverse once the cable is attached. It seems like the cable isn't long enough. Any ideas? The cable attachment to the transmission did get twisted several times when I first installed it.

Welcome to the CCF!

Something is wrong.... Dash shifter??

If this was a problem before... sounds like something is jammed in the valve body...

Wait for the experts to post..

Please describe how you installed the cable into the transmission. It is a procedure and an adjustment which requires pan removal. First make sure it is installed correctly into trans before removing pan.

the cable can not be installed correctly unless both rods are disconected. the trans lever must be held counter clock as far as it goes before inserting the cable.
