Good to hear the trip went well!

0116 = Jan 16th.... year depends on letter code and configureation

0606 June 6th

0320 March 20th

All either 80HP or 95HP FC type engines depending on the year. Case ribs at flywheel end passenger side would indicate the 95HP assuming no changes.

So the case suffix date code gives only month and day not year.

EM style/type engine code letter suffixes continued thru to 1964 models.

As Motohead suggested, I wouldn't build a 145 cu. in. motor for an FC. Only you will know what's under the sheet metal.

'61 700 Lakewood 110 4 speed
'69 Monza Convert. 140 Auto.

Indeed...there is no substitute for cubic inches.

Seems like I just said that phrase a few days ago.

No extra rib cases in yesterdays haul.

I have one more coming from a club member.

But right now we are building an 80 hp motor.

Which we all know run great...just ask BillSide.

Phil:

I hope the 80 hp runs great. It was a dog in mine when I drove it home (25 miles), but it had lots of PO induced problems that created poor performance. Last issue is boogered up carb bowl gasket sealing flanges on one carb. No stone filters in either carb. Lots of leakage all over carbs. Bowls were full of water staining and mineral debris.

I did note that both have 51 jets. Is this a good jet for a PG van here in the flatlands of Georgia using premium fuel?

Motohead made PhilSide1's 80hp run great.

Even uphill with the 3.55 gear we put in it.

Maybe Dave will chime in and tell the story.

From the Ranch, to Phil, to Jeff, and to Bill.

How different are 98hp heads from 102hp heads? I thought they were the same, just different camshafts. I could be wrong though.

It only takes 5 min to modify an early case to work with a 164 cu in crank! Then use the 80 HP heads modified for the dual spring and you have an engine that will probably run on 87 octane gas and have some torque.
