Looking for head numbers

What is the easiest method to get head numbers. I it right side or left ? and what’s the process. As u can probably tell I’m a newbie...lol

Head number is molded into the end of every head. On the engine the number will be on the rear of the pass side and on front of driver side. To see passenger side remove muffler hanger and you will see the number.

On driver side remove heater outlet which is more involved. Exhaust manifold/heater hose/various sheet metal screws on top of engine plus bolts holding outlet to head must be removed. Heads would be equal except for the fact that owners/shops have been known to swap for anything else that will fit.

Look at junkyard primer or Clarks catalog to discover what the number really means.
