rampy transport help needed
Posted by: timebum ()

I bought a 1961 rampy from a man in Cincinnati Ohio and badly need to get it out to the Los Angeles area. I have tried the guys that advertise but they are all brokers and after they get your credit card they claim they can't find a driver.

Any ideas or a known good company ? Thanks, Art

Try Reliable carriers [www.reliablecarriers.com] A friend has used them to transport his Barrett Jackson purchases up to Canada and never had a problem. I am sure there are others too.

I have used the brokers several times and yes they are shady and sleazy but they will get your vehicle where you want it.

I used Fountain Transport Services.

Ask for Dave. They moved mine from Washington State, to Iowa.

He's a broker, I believe - but excellent to work with.

Most all are freight brokers. Jay's Transport is the one I've used for about 8 vehicle transports. He charges around $125 to $150 to find you a transporter. He posts the trip on a board and starts with a price per mile. He may start around $0.40/mile and raise it as the posting is not taken. Some routes are more common and will cost less. Some are remote so few truckers are traveling that route. Your cost will vary if you want enclosed transport vs open transport. The trucker is responsible for any damage and they take their jobs seriously. I have not experienced a bad haul yet. Intercity and Reliable carriers run their own hauls and their rates is usually 40% to 100% more. If you bought an expensive Bugatti or Ferrari, get them to haul it in one of their enclosed trucks.
