wire spinners on mag covers?

I posted a question about the value of NOS mag wheel covers back in October, but I couldn't edit it for these new questions. I ended up buying a set on auction last night for $500. While I was waiting for the auction to end, I began wondering if anyone had ever put the three bar spinners from the wire wheel covers on the mag covers, for a different look? Pictures? Opinions? Are the caps on the mag covers the same as those used on the '67-'69 wire covers?

Marco - Do the factory 66-67 "Mag" wheel covers have a replaceable center cap? I have never tried to take one apart. I do know the three-bar spinner from the 64-66 wire cap will fit onto the snap-in center of the early "Rally" wheels. That is an interesting look.

Got the mag covers from the e-Bay auction. The center caps on them are not removable. Would take a lot of machine work to install the spinners.

I saw a set of spinners on the derby cap rally wheel centers
and what came to mind was a very exact centering of the spinner
so no out of balance situation was present. In addition on the
mag wheel cover is more weight on the wheel/tire assembly.

As noted: just thoughts of mine no more.

I put a set of three-bar spinners on a set of 14" GM mag caps for a customer.

Please note that there are at least two types of mag caps for 14" and larger GM cars of the Corvair vintage. One is what I call the raised ring type, used on the Corvair and others, and has a raised ring around the center emblem. The other type is what I call the flat ring type, which has a ring around the center emblem that is flush with the emblem itself.

The caps I mounted the spinners on were of the flat ring type. (I'll see if I have any pictures of them.) I had to drill holes in the center emblem so as to mount the spinners, but they are do-able.
