Owner of one of the cars I've been looking at this week sent this.

This might interest you ral1963...this trim tag has zero accessories.

Corvair 500 Sport Coupe in Cameo Beige with Fawn interior. 3 speed transmission and probably a 95hp engine.

America's lowest price hardtop with full independent suspension....

$3K and it needs a clutch...probably pass.

But a 500 with zero options is a cool car.

Still can have Chevrolet options not shown such as Positraction, HD suspension, quick steering, telescoping wheel...
My '66 LOS Turbo Coupe has all those and the only code is the 4O for the turbo exhaust panel from Fisher Body.

I "see" your Plain Jane Tag and "raise" you an even "cheaper" car...

At least your car came with front seat belts...somebody ordered this one with Seat belt Delete as the only "Fisher Body" option...

Of course we don't know what "other" options could have been ordered that are not listed on the Fisher Tag.

My '66 Corsa Sprint convertible has no body options either.

I can understand the mentality of a stripped 500. In the case of my car, I'm guessing the focus was on things that make the car go without any unnecessary bling.

My 1969 Cadillac was so bare bones of a car, that it was shipped with only the complete drivetrain, and the front end sheet metal. The cowl was shipped loose by truck, and the dash and wiring were in a separate box.

Is it too far of a stretch to assume that these fully stripped base models were ordered as an advertising "Loss Leader" by the dealership rather than an individual?

"Come on over to Acme Chevrolet, were we can put you into a car today for NO money down, only $25 a month!"

In my father's case (depression era raised), he had to order his stripped Chevette. No dealer would stock a no option (no profit) car! Scooter, when delivered, had an am radio, only because Chevy had a promotion and included it for free. It took him several months of stopping in at the three local Chevy dealers before he found a new hire salesman, green behind the ears, that would order a no option car!eye popping smiley
