I would say the one on the right is original...as that's all I've ever found..

The others are shorter...most likely came from other model carbs? As you know many of us shorten the stock arm to get a better squirt.

Early carbs used shorter levers.

They are all from Corvair carbs, collected over the years from rebuilding so many.

These must have been taken from carbs to far gone to rebuild.

But I don't remember the heritage.

I am thinking they might be useful on secondary race carbs, to help with the transition period.

I will try some on my latest build of secondaries for my YS183 D/P Vintage racer.

Or maybe drill 3 holes in a later style arm.

And tune from there.

Steve - DO you remember seeing some with two separate holes in the link end, with a choice of locations for the link? Maybe I am hallucinating.

Think the 60 carb has the super short one and the early have the medium short, and then the long LM, I have seen some with 2 holes but do not know if that is stock?

The additional hole(s) were attempts to change the stroke of the accel pump. GM tech bulletin plus tech tips in COMMUNIQUE through the years.

I recall hearing about drilling another hole in the arm in order to adjust the volume of the accelerator pump's "squirt".

Shortening arms, drilling holes ? ? ?
Sounds very interesting!
Anyone want to go more in depth about this, and give us detailed instruction?
The exact hows and whys, not just a generic answer.
It is obvious how the whole leverage and a shorter stroke works, but what applications, and just how much should the stroke be shortened for what desired effect.
PLEASE.
And
THANK-YOU!
