They are out there. I recently picked up a 65 Corsa Convert. original turbo car that came with 3 140 engines (with 6 cylinder heads all with bad valve seats). The car is VERY solid and rust free. I was told it has been in the SW all this time. Is the car nice? Not at all. I posted the vin/trim tag info a while back and stated this car needs $10000+++ to be cherry.

There was a solid looking convertible stripped down project Corsa on Craigslist in Rochester last year for $500. The posting was down after the first day. I think I know who it belonged to, the fellow had it for years and just had too many projects and wanted to move it along to someone who would do something with it. So yes they are out there and someone looking has to be diligent and able to pull the trigger quickly. I'm certainly keeping you in mind in case I hear of anything.
There was a solid looking LM 500 2-door on Craigslist this week with no powertrain for $500, it too was gone after one day. It was only about 10 miles from me but I have too many projects already that I can't get to.

Jim, yes the LM 500 had my eye as it was a value. But it was a Hard Top. But being close like 50 miles from me and only 500 bucks it was contemplating. As it could have been a good fit.

The Rochester MN Corsa was a real good deal, probable the best so far, and I contacted that seller and was too late. Visited with the seller several time and we did meet, He was a very nice man and he did put in contact with the new owner, but the new owner and I could not find a deal going either way, as I did offer him my motor, a strong power pack if he needed it. He took my number but we will see. I am continuing to moving forward to find the right car.

Again thank you all for letting me know what is out there. Please continue.

Take a look at the above thread on the Corvair Forum titled "The overall reliability of the Corvair drivetrain"

You may find the initial post worth reading.
Maybe it could result in a purchase or even a sale. Who knows.

Thank you for the plug on the Corvair forum. More looking can not hurt.

Nice insight into the reliability of the Corvair drive train too.

Dan, I agree with j3m's recommendation about the Texas car. I don't know the car, but for the price, equipment it has and the state it is coming from I'd encourage that it is likely worth investigating.

I'm working on a one owner 66 Corsa 140 for a fellow who will probably sell it when done. It's Artesian Turquoise with a White top and boot. It was originally an aqua interior but now has white seats so it's sort of an aqua/white tuxedo which I think looks very nice.

He rebuilt the engine himself several years ago. I rebuilt the suspension and brakes with dual master cylinder and installed a new gas tank. I also put in a new 1-2 synchro and changed differential from 3.55 to 3.27. The suspension is all sandblasted and painted black. New Maxxis whitewall 185 tires.

I've had if for a while but intend to finish up one of these days real soon.
I think he will want $15,000 or more for it.
