LM Power Window Conversion
Posted by: 19sixty5 ()

I want to install a power window conversion for the rear quarter windows of my Corv8. I plan to have a plexi divider attached to the roll bar for now, and may possibly fabricate a cover down the road. I am in the process now of removing all the window regulators, replacing guide materials, lubricating, etc to make them move as effortlessly as possible. Most of the ones I see on ebay all seem to look the same, just different pricing. Does anyone have any recommendations/experiences to share?

Thanks!

I have converted 3 cars over to power windows, 55 ford F100, 51 ford car, and my 49 chevy fleetline...I home made every bracket to hold the 80's Mustang power window motor to the regulator...they all worked great with no problems...the chevy fleetline was the hardest...took a week or two. I was surprised that the gears meshed with each other in all three....still have 2-3 of the motors.

This is exactly what I have in mind for my Crown V8.

I did a search on another forum and the person doing a V8 conversion was using a Spal universal electric window kit.

You are right to clean up the tracks and get the windows to operate as effortlessly as possible. I bought a kit from Summit, VPA as I recall, and converted my quarter windows to power in my Crown car. I also have a Lexan window mounted in a "roll bar". I'm very pleased with how they operate. I still need to mount the switches. For now, they are in the glove box.

Here is a link to the kit that was recommended by another Corvair owner.

I found it on Amazon Prime for a little less.
