Improving Headlight grounds.

This may been covered here, but a reminder.

This time of year some of use in the warmer climates may be driving our Corvairs at night and may notice the headlamps aren't very bright.

I recently worked on a 66 and installed the Halogen sealed beam headlights. Noticeable brighter than the old seal beam units, no change in wiring gauge needed.

Next the ground was examined. The glass sealed beam units have a ground wire from the plug to the assembly plate that holds the headlight bulbs and aiming adjusters. The assembly plate is screwed into the headlamp bucket and those screw were corroded, the headlamp bucket is screwed into the body. Not a good ground path.

I soldered a wire to the the headlight socket ground wire on each side and run them through the harness rubber plug on each side to a good body ground in the trunk.

A nice improvement.

Also relays powered by the Horn Relay's Feed increases voltage under load... no other wiring improvement for Halogens.
