The new rubber is pretty sticky too, though not quite like your 200tw! (Regretting that now that it's not a daily anymore). We'll see how it does on the short course, it was a blast on the faster Clemson lot. Speaking of which, did you see the dates I posted for those events?

IIRC, Springfest usually falls on the same weekend as the Mitty. I've always wanted to check out the Mitty, but would rather go to Springfest. I think last year they were different weekends but I was stuck working sad smiley

The meeting to finalize events and prices was held on Saturday the 13th of January. It takes a day or three to get the forms updated and proof read.

I saw that, I have a nephew going to Clemson, may try to do one or two. I hardly have had time to think lately, worked every day since Christmas and right at 100 hours OT, barely have time to fit in sleep.

Thanks for the explanation. I can sure understand date conflicts in club functions and facilities. Been there in a previous marque club. Just didn’t know the Springfest history.

Thanks for helping a new Corvair owner get up to speed

WooHoo:

The official registration form has been posted to the Springfest website:

Registration page

We have also increased the People's Choice categories by splitting FC into FC Van and FC Truck which allows more opportunities to win a trophy!

BTW, you can get driving directions to Helen by clicking on the "Map & Message Us" tab, then click "View Larger Map" to be re-directed to Google Maps....

This happens to me every year. I have missed several Helens because of "The Mitty" It would be neat if there was a way to incorporate the 2 and part of the Helen crowd could come down and see racing corvairs in action. Sunday is a good day since Helen is wrapped up. Alas, I will miss Helen again. I have plans to do the Autocross on Friday and then travel down to "The Mitty" I have a bad fever for the smell of racing fuel. My son Miles has his heart on selling parts at Helen, so this is gonna be tough. He is also big buddies with the racing crowd. We will see how this all works out.

We have suggested people stop in at the Mitty on Sunday at a number of Springfests in the past.

Why is there no Concours d'Elegance this year??

The answer is that overall participation in the Concours event has been steadily dwindling such that it was time to find/create an event that would be a win-win for participants as well as the host clubs.

A win for participants such that they could satisfy their competitive nature and receive public recognition for the time, effort and expense invested in their favorite Corvair.

And a win for the host clubs that would make for a better weekend without requiring an increase in costs and manpower.

We certainly hope that Presidents Choice will become a popular event at Springfest.

Enter your Corvair for a chance to win a trophy in one of the following four categories:

Best Engine

Best Interior

Best Paint

Best of Show

The presidents of the four sponsoring Corvair clubs (or their designated representative) will choose the winners based purely upon their "choice".

No formal checklists or safety inspections are required.

On behalf of the Springfest leadership, I strongly encourage you to enter the Presidents Choice event and compete for a trophy.

Believe me, I'm going to enter and hope to bring home some "hardware" and bragging rights myself!

Are you preparing a Corvair for entry into a Concours d'Elegance competition in Pittsburgh or elsewhere?

Despite the fact that we eliminated the Concours event at Springfest, we are offering you the opportunity to have your Corvair evaluated by an experienced Concours judge during this year's Springfest.
