() Date: January 06, 2018 06:38AM I have noticed the prices of Corvair parts on ebay have been all over the Map, and seem to be going wild in some instances, Could our cars really be going up in value and popularity to warrant high value like some other popular 60's cars? Has the recent interest from Hagerty, Eastwood, Leno and a few others sparked the interest in our little cars to the mainstream collector crowd? A wood steering wheel sold for over $700 recently and I just watched a 63 Used rear air grill sell for $390 with over 50 bids, heck I sold a nicer one on here 2 months ago for $100 ![]() ![]() ![]() Email me at: Dave Motohead 1960 4dr sedan caveman car 1961 Rampside (Chetside) 1962 Rampside (Barnside) 1962 Short Rampside (Shortside) 1962 Monza 700 Wagon 1963 Monza 900 coup (General Nader) ----------------------------------- Rust Free Lancaster Ca Attachments: ![]() ![]() Re: Corvair parts prices on ebay going crazy? () Date: January 06, 2018 06:46AM I really doubt Corvair's or their parts will ever be valuable, this is caused in part by Corvair owners , way too many looking for cheap daily drivers, not enough serious collectors ![]() ![]() Re: Corvair parts prices on ebay going crazy? Posted by:

() Date: January 06, 2018 09:08AM I noticed a lot of sellers on ebay sell anything including Corvair parts. They throw a price out there and hope it sticks. Some are simply delusional thinking if it's old it's worth a lot of money. I actually laugh at some, it's cheap entertainment. 65 Monza Coupe 61 500 Coupe (under Construction) Getting close. () Date: January 06, 2018 09:58AM I looked at the 66 turbo vert. on Haggerty this week. I can assume it is really high priced given the company at the auction. It does not list a catalog price and I wondered what it is expected to bring. As for our cars ever being in the stratosphere, forget it. Car prices for collector cars, not investment cars, is tied to the age of the people who had them originally and their wealth. Being able to spend a boat load of cash to get back a memory is for people the right age to have those memories and their earnings. In other words, old enough to be nostalgic and well off enough to buy. I think our window is past. Most here on this forum are getting pretty old, myself included. There is not another generation behind us with the same interest. I am back into the Corvair because of my childhood memory of my car in the early 70's. No one who sees it who is under 60 even knows what it is. I will never get back what I have in my cars. I just think of my own enjoyment, not resale. I do like to see prices become reasonable and so does my wife so she can sell my stuff when I'm gone! ![]() Bob Vinnacombe Sandy, Oregon 1965 Corsa 140 stock 1966 Monza Soon to be race car 1968 Monza Parts for now Re: Corvair parts prices on ebay going crazy? () Date: January 06, 2018 09:59AM I gave a grill that nice to my crew chief last summer. Did some good old fashioned horse trading of Corvair parts with Greg Riley yesterday. I still like to do some of it the way we use too. Texas YENKO Dude YS-070 YS-199 YS-320 Southeast of Disorder ![]() Re: Corvair parts prices on ebay going crazy? Posted by:

() Date: January 06, 2018 12:29PM Back on December 29th I posted that particular Grille here [corvaircenter.com] and at that time the bid was at $86.00 plus shipping and appeared to have NO Reserve. This tells me that the market set the price for this part and there are more than one or two buyers still looking for one like it. Personally, I think the '62-'63 Grille is the best looking early design that was made. Second choice early Grill for me would be the '60-'61 style. My least favorite would be the '64 version as it simply lacks style (in my opinion) 1965 Monza Coupe Westminster, Maryland MID ENG enthusiast & prior Kelmark owner. Edited 1 time(s). THAT'S the way to do it. Let the market decide. In my ebay expirence this brings the higher selling price more often than not. Bidders feel they have a chance at something without reserve and low starting point and as you know the more bidders means mo money... ![]() Good luck with the bumper. () Date: January 06, 2018 01:55PM with free shipping, I can clearly see this bumper headed into the $250 - $300 range. You rarely can buy a straight rust free bumper in that price range. Re: Corvair parts prices on ebay going crazy? Posted by:

() Date: January 06, 2018 03:56PM I am 42 and got my 65 vert when I was 38. I wanted a fun 60s sporty vert and the Corvair was it! So fun to drive and I think the LM is gorgeous. I do recall seeing them when I was in high school in the early 90s and liking them but I had no connection to them otherwise. I have since read several articles about early Porsches and how wonderful they are and I laugh because we all know what we have is just as fun to drive at 1/10 the cost. Crazy what a name and a badge with some hype can do. I think there are more like me who will come along who discover the Corvair and dont know about the stigma or dont care because they didn't live through the times. But I don't think the new interest will outpace the numbers of older guys getting out of Corvairs in the next decade. And interest in 60s stuff has already peaked. People just a little younger than me want stuff from the 80s. All that to say I don't think in general values will go up beyond where they are now. Re: Corvair parts prices on ebay going crazy? () Date: January 08, 2018 09:13AM Hey Bob, I am under 60 (I was born in 1960) and know what a Corvair is. I have owned them since 1977 but you are correct- not many younger than me are into these cars. Re: Corvair parts prices on ebay going crazy? Posted by:
