I'm pretty sure the Youtube videos are the same as was on the History Channel...

In 1961, a Chevrolet dealer in Chicago sponsored an attempt to cross the Darien Gap.

One of the reasons for the 1961 trip through the Darien Gap was the previous year's trip with three red 1960 Corvairs from Chicago down to Panama. That trip was documented by the film "From Here to There". All three 1960 Corvairs finished the journey. The trip was sponsored by Chevrolet through their advertising agency. The dealership that did the actual trip was a very well placed Corvette specialist dealer; Dick Doane of Doane Chevrolet in Dundee, Illinois. Little known fact - Mr. Doane himself participated in the trip and upon return to the States was diagnosed with a form of Jungle Fever. He died about a decade later of a heart problem but his life expectancy may have been shortened by his time in the jungle!

That's very interesting. When I was El Presidente of Corvair Minnesota about 20 years ago, I purchased the Jam Handy VHS video and showed it at a meeting. It must be around here somewhere...
