MECUM AUCTION IN KISSIMMEE
Posted by: Melb-Mike ()
Date: January 04, 2018 03:39PM

Starting on January 7, the massive Mecum Auto Auction will start in Kissimmee, Florida where an estimated 3000 cars will go across the stage.

Among the cars there will include;
1962 Monza Sedan, PG, in maroon
1964 Monza coupe, 4 spd, yellow (G215)
1964 Monza conv., 4 spd, red (G214)
1966 Corsa conv., 4 spd, 180 HP turbo, red (T120)
1962 FC Rampside, Electric powered, PG, silver (F257)

The last one, the FC, has appeared on eBay a few months ago. I've seen the vehicle in person and I can confirm that this a first class electric conversion of the highest level possible. The entire vehicle is a top notch restoration with no expense spared.

I'm a registered bidder with Mecum and I will be there a number of days but I won't be bidding on any of these cars.

64 Greenbrier
64 Spyder (needs restoration)
65 Corsa 140, restored
66 Corsa turbo, restoring now
66 Corsa 140 "RR" code coupe fully restored
67 Pontiac GTO restored
69 Corvette 427 convertible restored
2015 Porsche Panamera S
2015 Corvette Z06
1965 AC Cobra (Factory Five)

Hopefully the EV FC owner gets the $50k he previously wanted for it.

The wire wheel covers on the 66 Corsa look "strange". Lacing is not like original.

I think he was looking for $65K. I spoke with the owner in September 2016. He told me the 63 Lithium ion batteries cost him over $40K. What is surprising is the very limited range of this vehicle. If memory serves me right, he has a 40 mile range.

Bought the ‘62 Monza for $4k. Have no knowledge at all about Corvairs but it seemed like a nice little car I could get my tinker fix on.

As soon as I bring her home, will do. Was bidding at work via the Internet today so haven’t actually seen her in person and have to go there and pay for her. Then hopefully she’ll make the short 30 minute drive home.

Boy, that seems cheap for that 66 turbo vert.. At $$11,000 it's a pretty good price. Too bad I don't have the extra 10k or it would be mine. My problem is I bought a few several years ago and have all my money tied up in them! angry smiley

I don't like the mirror location on the 64 convertible.

Hey 62fourdoor; welcome to the community! I'm presuming you're a Central Florida resident. Our club, Central Florida Corvairs, is having a get together at Blue Springs State Park this Saturday (Jan 13th). Please feel free to come up and join us. We are having a chili cookout, so bring a pot of chili or a desert or side dish to share, and meet the local Corvair experts.

That was not the 66 turbo vert at $11K, it was a 65 Monza. Turbo vert goes on the block today (Thursday).

Correction on the sold Corvairs.

T120, a red 66 Corsa Convertible turbo sold for $29,900 + 10% buyer's premium. I saw the car today and it was very nice. The seller was hoping for $40,000. I wished him luck on that. Being a nice car, the only option on the car was a telescoping steering column and 4-way flasher.

I think this confirms that CORVAIR prices are rising. Ironically the prices for 55 & 56 T-Birds are dropping appreciably.

I bought the 64 red convertible. Run good but gas smells like varnish. She will be heading north to Ohio. My first Corvair since I had one at 15. I'll be teaching my granddaughter to drive in it, just like I did.

Congratulations on your acquisition. The car looks to be very clean and the paint is quite good. There were two 64's, one convertible (yours now) and one yellow coupe. The coupe was OK but the engine compartment was a little gnarly. I taught my granddaughter to drive a stick shift in my 65 Corsa.
