My FC horn works but is anemic
Posted by: monza66mo ()

I'm looking for a plug and play solution to fix my tired horn. Doesn't have to be NOS or OEM, but I don't want to engineer something complicated or spend a lot of money. Yesterday, I found out that I need more volume when some jack-hole nearly side swiped me.

Good call, Matt. thumbs up I searched "horn" before I posted and found a bazillion threads. After you helped me narrow it down by author, I found:

Richard1's horn repair

The pictures are missing (stupid photo bucket) but I bet I can figure it out.

Remove the mount bolt and clean area when mount bracket contacts frame. Could be a poor ground.

Quite often just adjusting the screw brightens them back up.

Would rather have Paul's anemic photos than your out of focus photos of terribly scratched up nbumbers. Paul will post the when he can. He not a young 40 year old like you. Be more respectful of people more senior than you. You will get there yourself.

Pedigo wrote about Paul having anemic parts photos. I don't know who Paul is but he is being disparaged by Pedigo. You can't teach an old dog new tricks, and you can't make Pedigo be nice. Why that moron is still on this forum is beyond me. He has ridiculed a number of people as well as physically threatened some. I think he was let back in with the understanding that he would be nice........yeah, really.

As to the horns, I would recommend a little trip to Harbor Freight and purchase the rather compact air horns they sell. My GB was suffering from the same anemic horn sound so I put the HF air horns on........and they make a very nice LOUD statement. I liked them so much, I put a set on my golf cart so the grandkids could play with it. Then I put a set on my Lotus Super 7 race car and it sure helps to alert those walking around in the paddock at the race track not paying attention while screwing around with their cell phones.

Where, on your Greenbrier, did you mount the new air horn?

I put the horn under the front pretty much where the stock horns were. Stock horns being 50+ years old just don't have much of a blast, not sure they ever did. The HF horn is compact and light, doesn't have much of a current draw either. It took about 30 minutes to install.
