Long ago show car with reverse folding hood..memory test

Hood hardware was from either a Jaguar or BMW if memory serves. I cannot find pix of this install (had them at one time long, long ago). Any ideas would be appreciated.

Wasn't the car in Florida? Built by Curt.... Sarah's deceased husband?

Car was called "Bad Reputation". Dan Avallone owned it after Curt. David Clemens and I had a chance to buy it about 10 years ago, but it was trashed, blown motor, top ripped, rusty...

I do believe you are correct. Florida stikes a bell. Curt would have had the skills to do that type of work. Anyone have a link to photos of the hood hardware/type/specs?

Thanks

Bob it was pictured in COMMUNIQUE but I am not sure what time frame. If you can come close I will look through my copies, they are by year in hanging file folders so easy to go through. I am thinking either national convention or a mini in Fla. If it helps Curt's shop was called Waterless Wonders.

best wishes, Steve

His name was Curt Jones. He was a good friend of mine until his untimely passing. You're right, his repair shop was called Waterless Wonders.

There is a 65 Corsa in Sharon, PA owned by Charles Moss that has a reverse opening trunk lid. This was installed by a body shop in Western PA. I was involved in the restoration of this car. It is a senior division car. It will be at the Corsa convention in July. There was an article on this in the Corsa Communique.

The article is in the March 2010 Communique. I can't find the FL car article built by Curt. I saved it for the Alfa Romeo door handles not the hood.

I, or anyone, can do a digital search of all past Communiqués using the online library at Corvair.org.

If I could have Curt's last name I should be able to locate the article quickly.

I am sure these pictures were posted here on this forum. I tried a search to see if there was other info, but couldn't find anything.

Richard, I saw this car at the Knoxville convention. It also had the drip rails removed and some other mods. Owned by an Air Force guy.

Charles is a retired Marine not Air Force. That is the car I did the restoration on. It will be in Pittsburgh at the Convention.

I would be interested in how well the lid gasket seals at driving speed.

If anyone cares to get a hold of Charles Moss I have the car at my shop! If he gives the OK I can take pictures and post them.

Ken you can post photos on the entire car. The interior is from a GEO Prism and recovered by WYOTECH. Speedhut electronic gauges. Air ride suspension. Areo Space Components provided 4 wheel disc brakes. The color is mineral grey metallic pearl. Polished 16X8 IROC rims on BF Goodrich tires(225X50 & 255X50). Shaved drip rails, door latches inside and out, gas door smoothed, rear cove molding removed and filled in, and a few more modifications to come in the very near future.

Charles, didn't you have this car at the convention in Detroit (2007?). Or Jacksonville? I know I have seen this car and have enjoyed conversing with you but my memory isn't what it used to be.
