I bought the Novita LF12 from O'Riley's Auto Parts this morning.

It's about at the same noise level (perhaps a lil' bit quieter) than the one I got from evilbay.

About 25 years ago Larry Claypool sold me 500+ flashers that he said were "loud like original". I still have about 40 of them left and are being sold for $4.00 each in our Super Garage Sale. Link is here [www.corvairunderground.com]

The pie tin also works great.

If you move the mounting clip, and attach it so some other resonant structure under the dash, the sound will definitely change. You may or may not want to wire it to some metal rod or bracket under there to increase the residence. Later, I bought the Novita flasher and clipped it to a crossmember or something else nearby, and it became much louder.

My car is covered up for winter so can't go take a picture, sorry. I'm sure the pie tin or other metal would work, wondering if you might use a very low current piezo buzzer in the circuit (haven't tried this), shouldn't draw enough juice to matter and you'll definitely hear it. Good luck. Joey
