Thanks for the info guys I’m car hunting as we speak. I do have one more question though. Can the 1965 transmission be strengthen for track abuse and is it worth strengthening or should it be swapped out for a 66-69. Been seeing a few 65s for sale that are in good overall shape.

Yes they can be swapped with just a few extra parts...

But the '65 is a better shifting trans.... run it first.... then find a complete Transaxle...diffs are different....but a '65 diff can be used...with a little more work...
