New?
That basic style has been in use in the marine/small boat field for MANY years.

Although, it never occurred to me to stick one in my Corvair! eye rolling smiley
Considering how fast the Vert loses heat in the winter when flying down the freeway, it is definitely something to think about.

""Considering how fast the Vert loses heat in the winter when flying down the freeway, it is definitely something to think about.""

Mel, you need a turbo or to fix your heater. My Vert was my DD for 20 plus years, many ski trips to New England, single digits 75 MPH . I was only wearing a "FLANNEL" shirt, too hot in the car for a jacket.

BTW so much for the 3" of snow we were supposed to get today, still snowing, almost 9 PM

Corvairs put out plenty of heat but I've never managed to get one to not give me a headache from the fumes no matter how clean and right the engine is. I guess a smoker wouldn't mind.
Great looking heater but I'll bet parts would be impossible to get.

J. O., I will see how much better it is tomorrow.
Since I took some time out to put full lower shrouds on it now!grinning smiley
I have been running it around with some summer-time, partial-lower shrouds.
It was putting out heat, but not MAX by any means.
There is not any front carpet in it at the moment either, which allows some heat transfer through the sheet-metal floor.
My windows all have some pieces of the original seals, which are in need of replacing. - More Heat Loss!
And the front fresh air vents need some serious attention. - Serious heat Loss!
Oh, and one more thing, I am running around with the original top. after all of this time, the zipper is a little wonky, and there is a bit of a gap back there. Sooooo, I kinda loose a few degrees of warmth out the back too.sad smiley
I drive my cars year round, but usually drive the coupe during the absolute worst of the winter.
But since I am still working on the bad knock in the coupe, I am stuck with the Vert as my snow machine this winter!cool smiley

Not sure what is going, mine is about as clean as forced air oil burner furnace. Not that I haven't had issues over the years, but I always found them. My kerosene heater in the garage even gets to me these days. I don't smoke. I switch between water pumpers and the Vair. no difference other than quicker heat. The slightest leak in the turbo system I get a gas smell under boost and go after it. I'm going to start a fresh thread on the subject, see what the group thinks.

I’m currently using ‘this' heating system rated @ 5000k and find it just adequate for phx Az. areas. I would like to compare these units.
