Hilarious.

Nader gets blamed for hurting the Corvair, but I've talked to folks from that era and the most common complaint I hear is "Those cars leaked a lot of oil". One fellow said he was behind one and got oil all over his windshield. Another said "Corvairs always had oil all over the back end".

Of course GM claimed they were never aware the oil leaking problem. True as warranty ended after a year and the problem did not become apparent until after the warranty expired AND then was relatively expensive to fix.

Same thing with the Vega. A company I worked at bought Vegas for service vehicles and after the warranty expired oil consumption increased to about 1 quart per tank of gas!! The dealer said the GM guidelines said that was NORMAL. The company dumped the Vegas and bought Japanese made cars after that.

Very good. I do remember watching Rowan and Martin's Laugh In in prime time.

I remember in the mid 60's my brother in law made a lot of money fixing oil leaking Corvairs. People would bring them to have them fixed instead of the dealer. He didn't even have a garage, Just jacked them up in the front yard in the dirt. He did have a pretty fast early 4 door with 180 turbo.

Was sad... but I made a lot of $$$ buying... changing Valve stem seals to the "Perfect Circle wire banded type" and reselling...and YES I gave one to my Sister-in-law and she drove it trouble free / no smoke for approx. 50 k miles.....

Then bought a Celica!!! LOL!!
