Oil pressure and voltage gauges

It always struck me as an oversight that a car as sporty as a Corsa did not have oil-pressure and voltage gauges. On more than one non-turbo Corvair I've owned, I replaced the clock and vacuum gauges in the Corsa dash with oil-pressure and voltage gauges from a 1973-87 Chevy/GMC pickup. The gauges resemble the Corsa gauges in that they are black face with white numerals and have a red/orange needle with 90 degree sweep. (You can even touch up the center hub on the needle with chrome paint to make it look more like the others, but I seldom did that.) The Chevy/GMC gauges are easily modified to fit the Corsa dash, and the most difficult part of the installation is cutting the center cone out of other speedo/tach crystals so that they fit the smaller gauge faces and do not have dedicated alphanumerics. The original Chevy/GMC oil-pressure sender gets installed in Clark's Aadapt-a-bolt and a new wire is run to the gauge. The volt meter gets wired across a 12V positive source and ground. Here is what my current installation looks like.

If you look under corvairs at the top of the page and look for my car you can see the same conversion I did on my car.

To duplcate the center shiny piece on the needles I used a stainlees bolt and a drill bit to make the dimple, cut the bolt to length and glued the pieces to the needles.

I like the way it looks, and info is king [as said above] but......ED,

does the weight of the silver bolt cause any issues with the needle moving ie:
slowing it down, prohibit movement etc.

I have not noticed.a.problem. The pieces I made are very small.
They may slow response but I never tried the gauges without the stainless nubs.

Pretty low polar moment of inertia...like a mid-engine Corvair.
