The "Bad Guys" cars in "Herbie goes to Monte Carlo" were Laser 917 kit cars with Corvair motors.

Seth... those were based on VW chassis...

Dave's is a complete engineered performance vehicle. Sadly only the one was built and never really raced..so it was never "sorted" / adjusted for max suspension performance..

I remember seeing that car in PDX once.
It was on display at one of the car shows.

It was engineered for sure.
I recall being at a 'drive in' Corvair Meeting a number of years ago, in MN, where the new owner drove it. He did mention that it needed some sorting for a smooth ride.
