What are the advantages and disadvantages (if any?) of using both a mechanical and an in lineelectric fuel pump?

I didn't. After sitting for awhile (1 or 2 weeks) I would flip the toggle and let the electric pump fill the bowls ('bout 10 to 15 seconds) flip it off and she fires right up. I only use it for start-ups then the mechanical pump takes over.
I had a mechanical pump give up the ghost and strand me once. I figure if it happens again, I'll flip the switch and go with that to get me home! smoking smiley

I use mine mostly for hot stop vapor lock. When it sits for about 15 to 20 minutes on a hot day its vapor lock. I used to think it was YH flooding, but no its a dead lean situation. There is zero PSI from the mechanical at start, then for several minutes. Now I just flip on the E-pump for a few seconds before start and all is good. Drive for a few minutes then kill it. Also, great when the car sits for more than a week, instant start.

One last point. A mechanical fuel pump will not pull through certain types of electric pumps when switched off. Most all electric pumps will push through a mechanical pump.

Not yet, it's sitting here right next to me in the box along with my Facet pump that will be going in this winter. I'm installing Roger Parent linkage and billet aluminum clutch/parking brake pulleys at the same time.

A local guy has had one in a couple cars (non-Corvair) for a while and says it has worked very well.

40104 pump sold in the FEP42SV kit.

There are many opinions out there about which fuel pump is best. A few here swear by the Facet cube pumps.
