The New Corvair Museum in Decatur IL - Photos!! - It's Fantastic! thumbs up
Date: November 19, 2017 01:42PM

The Dream has become Reality! The Corvair Preservation Foundation (CPF) is creating a wonderful Museum and it's HUGE!
Here is the intro from CPF Publicist Eva McGuire:

NEW CORVAIR MUSEUM UPDATE: Our Grand Opening for our new Corvair Museum in Decatur Illinois will take place on May 18-20, 2018...
Mark your calendars so you can participate in this historical weekend celebrating this momentous occasion
which includes a ribbon cutting ceremony, car show, and more. We are currently looking for a host hotel and will keep you updated.
Spread the word to your Corvair friends.
In the mean time, you're in for a treat.
Here are some photos inside the museum located at the Chevy Hall of Fame in Decatur, Illinois .
It is currently open for visits but we hope you will join us as a Corvair community at the grand opening.
A big thank you to all those who helped to make this possible including all the volunteers.
(Thanks to CPF President, Mike Hall, and John Tucker, Jr. for the photos)
Eva McGuire, CPF Publicist

Actually, click anywhere on the picture.

Just curious here.
It is a Corvair Museum?
So why do I see a Camaro, Chevette, and a LUV(Little Useless Vehicle) Pick-up in there?

Thank-you Solo, I missed the S-10 the first time I looked at the gallery.

Here is the exact full quote.
"Come see our new Corvair Museum at 3635 US Route 36 East, Decatur, Illinois. We have 9,000 square feet of space at this facility, all for ourselves. And with so much footage, we've been able to display our entire collection for the very first time. Exhibits at the Corvair Museum include vehicles, mechanical displays, literature and artwork. Scroll down to the Image Gallery on this web page for photos of our exhibits!"

So, why is there a Chevette, an S-10, and a LUV, in the room with the Corvairs?
The Camaro may actually be just "visible" from the other room.

What a shame it's so far from me but I do have friends in Indianapolis which isn't that far away if the map is to be believed.

Why is a Chevette, S-10 and Camaro in the Corvair Museum? They're there just for laughs! (And, by way of comparison, to show the superiority of Corvair cars and trucks!) spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

A link from a link From the Chevrolet Hall of Fame Museum facebook page. (You will not go to facebook)

http://www.illinoishomepage.net/ciliving/chevrolet-hall-of-fame-museum-in-decatur/874867740

At the end the video the CPF is referred to as the Chevette Preservation Foundation, it was just a slip of the tongue by the reporter.

The limo belonged to Don Filkins of Cincinnati, Ohio. He drove it to many a meet and convention. Really one of the best stretched Corvairs I've ever seen done. Though they really should turn it around and show the right side, with all three doors open so you could see the entire interior also.
