Gas Turbines / Jets are air cooled INTERNALLY....some of the compressor air is routed thru passages to keep thing from melting... internal temps reach 3,000f Oil is air cooled in flight and most ground based units... Here's a short video in case anyone is curious. It's the same one that Dave visited. All of Erickson's Sikorsky S-64's are named. This one is "Malcolm."
