Which Sanden compressor is better?

Years ago I got a Sanden SD5H14 compressor from Clark's for my car. I'm doing another A/C car and found Clark's now sells a "SD7". The reason given for the change was the Corvair community feedback indicated the "SD7" series was a better compressor.

I'm wondering if anybody here has experience with the "SD7" and if it's a better choice for the Corvair?

I'm going to assume Clark's is selling the SD7H15 because it has the same bracket size mounts as the SD5h14.

The SD5H14 has five pistons and used slightly less HP vs. the SD7 per RPM
The SD7H15 has seven pistons and uses more HP vs the SD5 per RPM, but has more coolant volume per given RPM.

To complicate matters more - Sanden now has an "enhanced" ESD7H15 and the charts indicate it uses less HP per cooling at a given RPM than either the old SD5h14 or SD7H15 and Clark's only states they sell the "SD7" with no specific model designation available - at least when I called.

Thanks in advance for any experiences with any of these compressors.

I've been using a SD-7 for 13 years-no problem. If you want to use less HP & less Rpm use an AIR Sheave. Works Fine.

A few years ago I installed a Sanden SD5 in my 66 trunk mounted system. That compressor growled loudly at 2,000 engine RPM. I thought it was defective so I replaced it with another SD5 and still had the same problem. I took the car to a auto AC specialist who told me that compressor had a harmonics problem in some installations. His suggested changing to the SD7H15 because it was a 7 piston compressor and would have different harmonic characteristics. The SD7H15 solved my problem.
