Shifter Movement When Releasing Clutch

Sometimes, when I'm releasing the clutch from a 1-2 shift on my 4spd EM, the shifter snaps forward a bit. What would cause that?

Most likely weak transmission mounts are allowing the powertrain to move around. In late models, the shifter is bolted to the transmission so powertrain movement does not affect the shifter.

I repaired an EM 4 speed once that would do that because the trans main shaft was jerking forward and back with changes in thrust direction because of a worn rear bearing and bearing retainer. Also had a LM jerking the shifter the same way because the pressed-in sleeve in the center of a replacement rear mainshaft bearing came loose in the Saginaw 4speed allowing the main shaft to slide back and forth.

You're scaring me because I know the trans mounts are new.
