I know about Phill-side aka Bill-side and a few others. But, do people Still name their Vairs? Been on this forum for about 8 years and have heard some people call their Vairs by name. What did you name her (or him) and WHY?

I still name my cars, and one with pedigree will carry on either its name like Flicka or Dave Boldc Blower car which I affectionly call Dave, or Kevin' car which will always be known as Unsafe, or the Michael Mann Avenger. As I am only the next care taker of these fabulous vehicles. Around here I have to use names as if I say lets take a drive in the 64,65 or what ever my wife will always ask well which one is that. But if I sat lets get Dave out she knows exactly which one I talking about.

Yeah, may sound silly but all mine get names. Often absurd, usually inside jokes.... As Don says - When my wife or kids say what car are we taking, I cant say 'the 64' as there are multiples. So they all have names. My red '63 is named Cardinal after the St. Louis Cardinals, cause my buddies car at the time was named Dodger as we are baseball fans, and it was Dodger blue. Later Dodger became mine as well so we have both. My '60 Monza is Cave Girl since '60s are cavemen, but the car always seemed like a she....

The Corvan is stenciled with the name of a mysterious (and most likely deceased) Woman.
My imagination runs wild as to who she is/was and her connection to the panel van.
Was she a blue-collar worker that rode in the van? Was she the owner's significant other? Was she a Hispanic woman? Was she a long-lost love?

I simply do not know.

What I "do" know is as follows...

The Corvan will always be "Roberta"

I've never named a car except my very first car which was a teal green 1961 Ford Ranch wagon name "Dinosaur". I do think my new car (Just took delivery of a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek in Sunshine Orange) will have a name. Stefani calls it "Pumpkin". I'm afraid that name might stick. I've had my 65 Monza Convertible for 40 years and never figured out a name for it. I'm hoping that when I'm gone, it will be known as the "Paul Sergeant" car.

Enjoy!

I never named a car, nor has my wife. Actually, for her, a car was just a way to get around. That all changed when she got her KIA Optima SX Turbo. She calls it "Zippy". Five minutes behind the wheel and you will understand.

My Corvair is named “The Corvair”, my Jeep is named “My Jeep”, my wife’s Jeep is named “Your Jeep”. My parents named their vehicles, I never have. This said, I get very attached to my vehicles so even without names, they are family members.

Speaking of family members, since I've owned this car since it was one year old I have called it many things over the years. Most of which I probably shouldn't mention here.

Me truk is Miss Adventure, because she certainly has been one.

The Corsa Clone is "Burdells Car" because he built it, the sport coup I got from Art Landis 8 years ago is "The Blue Car" because it is.
