Richard,
you are correct, but I think there is more to it than that.
It appears that Pedigo's wheel covers are missing the flat-black disc that helps to hide the wheel behind it.
Look closely at his, and then at the ones that you posted.

The flat black is there. Richard is right and a Loadside is the wrong vehicle for them,to boot.

No, there is a black disc that is missing on your hub-caps.
Those openings should be about half as big as the are.

There is in fact a black sheet metal layer under the mag five spoke outer section.
So it's supposed to have another layer of black sheet metal in there too?
I see the difference.

You have to remember that Tom's Loadside
has 14 inch wheels. The mag caps have a larger slot above the black disc than the 13" mag caps. I have had both. If you lay them side by side the difference is noticeable.

I was unsure if those were 13's or 14's, but either way, if you look at the picture of the same covers on the Malibu, those holes are smaller than Tom's.

I'll say this about both the mag and LM wire covers: as far as wheel covers go, these are both excellent designs!

Compare the Corvair wire covers to the Mustangs - GM did a far better job.

As far as the mag covers - they are so good that I have a set where two of the "lug nuts" on one of the covers had been twisted off by someone thinking they were real.

Plus, the wire covers make a great game at Corvair meets (wire cover disassembly competition). thumbs up

I ran a set on my 66 Corsa for years because you didn't see as many as wires and also, easier to clean.I have 5 NOS ones in a box for use on my 69 IF I want to go back to 13 inch wheels. In the eighties I had 7 sets at one time of NOS I got from dealer down south.I paid $13.00 a cover and sold sets for $150.00.

I am partial to the mag caps. Always wanted a car I could put a set on.

There are at least two, maybe more, styles of GM mag caps for 14" and larger. The Corvair only had one style.

I call them the raised ring and the flat ring styles, Corvair using only the former. The ring to which I am referring is the ring around the center emblem, whether it's flush with the center emblem or raised above it. The flat ring style has more of the wheel showing thru larger openings than the raised ring style.

Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, Tom's caps are the "raised ring" styles like ours.

That's right,AM. Mine are the non-corvair 14" raised-ring style for other GM cars.

Okay, I will admit it.
I have been wrong and I am not at all familiar with the larger sized mag-caps.
BUT, no matter what some clueless people think, they sure look good on a LM!grinning smiley

without regard to which mag version is used, my point is that no matter what vehicle they are on, PUKE GREEN showing through from behind is going to make them look terrible.

Not bad from a distance, but don't get up close.

Seller lowered the price on this set I wrote about months ago, so I bid on them, and won. I've had wire covers on my Monza, 13" front and 14" back, I'm anxious to see how these look. While I was waiting for the auction to end, I got to thinking. Has anyone ever tried putting the spinners from the wire covers on the mag style covers, for a different look? When these are shipped, I may have to give it a try.
